Welcome

We hope to post our travels in our 2016 Canyon Star 3710. We have had the unit for over an year and have taken a few trips around Indiana and Florida.  The first few blogs  will be updating you on our prior trips and how we came to choose the Canyon Star.

The process of finding what class of motorhome came to us very simple, we knew we wanted room to store and carry lots of camping related items. Class A style coach gave us the storage and room we wanted and we decided that a 35 to 40 foot coach should give us all the room we wanted as well.

Gas or diesel was the next choice we needed to make, again the cost factor made picking the gas coach for us an easy decision. Never having anything diesel I didn't feel comfortable with the working of a diesel engine and the wife didn't feel comfortable with the increased payment that a diesel would have given us.

Next it was finding a coach that was made well and would hold up as we travel down the road.  We looked on the web searching and reading forums about all brands for 2 years, we went to RV shows and dealers lots, you know the old saying "buy your last RV first." With this in mind we tried to find the perfect floor plan that fits our needs.

All the gas RV have the same Ford F-53 chassis depending on what weight and tire size you choose, we choose the 26,000lb and 22.5 tires, and in 2016 Ford came out with a six speed transmission that was an improvement over past transmissions.

Since all or most Class A manufactures use the same chassis it was just finding the right manufacture who built the best "house" on the Ford chassis. Not to bore you with how this search went, but all motorhomes aren't built the same.  We wanted the lowest price of course but didn't want to sacrifice quality.  We narrowed our  choice down to two brands and very similar floor plans.

We did the factory tour at Newmar and came away impressed with their quality and workmanship thru out the coach, plus their name all ways came up when people talk about well made and trouble free coach's. Cost was higher than most other but we feel as if we bought the top of the line gas coach and our hope is it will give us  many years of good solid service. So the planning started in earnest for a new 2016 Canyon Star 3710 from Newmar.
