Home ........

We rolled into home yesterday after a 23 day trip. we traveled almost 2000 miles, visited 4 states and met a lot of nice people. The highlight of the trip was the birth of our 3rd grandchild Charlene Mae, she is going to be a great addition to our family.  Our other two grandkids are so excited and they cant wait to meet her next month when they head to Florida for a fall vacation.

We will being going back to see her in November, planning on spending Thanksgiving with her and family. That should give me enough time to clean up the Canyon Star and restock the pantry. it will be another 3 week trip. Cant wait to get on the road again.

Canyon Star did a great job of getting us there and back safely, she has plenty of power to pull our towed car and still climb the small hills we find as we cruise thru Ky and Tenn. I will post later when I figure out gas mileage and trip expense's. I like to see where the money goes. This was the first trip since doing the cheap handling fix, and all I can say it made driving Canyon Star nicer then without the fix.  Was able to drive 8 and 9 hours without as much fatigue as before on shorter trips.

We stayed in a really nice COE campground in Montgomery, it was full hook 50 amp site up for only $13.00 a night, nice level concreate pads. Our site on Lake Talquin is in a very nice county park, its water and 50 amp for $15 a night with a dump station on site. This time we had a bug problem mainly ants, I sprayed everyday and they still found there way inside the MH. It will be cooler when we go back in November so hoping that helps with the ants. We found an Eagles nest directly across the lake from where Canyon Star was parked, we can sit in the front seat and with the binoculars look right into the nest.

Got some figures together on our trip, all in all not bad.  We drove 1986 miles and burned 299 gallons of fuel for a 6.7 mpg average.  There was a lot of stop and go traffic due to the evacuation for Irma leaving and coming back into Florida. The price of gas jumped by 40 to 50  cents a gallon the closer Irma got to Florida, on the way down we paid a low of 2.03 a gallon on the way back we paid 2.59 as the highest price.  We spent $324.50 for 22 nights of camping for an average of $14.75 a night. we had 5 nights with FHU and the rest was 50amp with water.  Our AC ran pretty much non stop during this trip.
