Smokey Mountians !!!!!!!

We took a non RV trip to Gatlinburg Tn with our kids and the grandkids to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. We left Canyon Star at home and rented a cabin in the hillside far above the city so we could all be under one roof for a week. Our cabin slept 14 and had a hot tub, pool table and video games for the kids, but what we most liked was the black bear who seamed to have a route it took everyday right past our cabin in the search for an easy meal, This bear was able to open unlocked car doors, break locks off the trash can bin and provide us with some great memories.

Our group ate, hiked, played and toured the mountains and cities together in very busy National Park. All roads in the park where heavily traveled and all the turn outs or parking at trail heads where jammed packed with autos. We learned quickly that we had to get ahead of the crowds, so we would get up and on our way early to explore areas of the park we wanted to see.  The early morning views of the mountains gave us beauty that we had not seen before with the clouds below some of the mountains. We counted as many as 7 tour buses at New Found Gap which caused quit the line for the small restroom there.

Our family hike up Clingmans Dome was a struggle for some of us (me) but well worth it once on top.  It was windy and cold but what a view of the Smokies, We drove to Cades Cove, The roaring fork trail and had fun stopping by many of the large streams that offer you a chance to connect with nature again. We did non park activities like Dolly Parton Stampede, walking the strip in Gatlinburg and water park and my favorite was the American Eagle Foundation in Pigeon Forge where we got to see the eagle Challenger fly.

This trip was so much fun and made our anniversary so special.  We hope to have more family outings soon and bring the Canyon Star along to join in the fun.
